Senate Race in LA

Although pollster.com shows that LA is heavily leaning towards Mary Landrieu (D), for the spot in the senate, John Kennedy (R) is coming out strong with attack ad's, including criticisms of her past decisions regarding drilling. How will this senate race affect the Presidential Election in LA? How is the issue of drilling going to help/hurt the canidates on November 4th?
